Cricket is a game where team strategy matters, and so it is played with a plan and coordination of all eleven members.

In my village there is a big open area which we use as a cricket ground, every year all our friends prepare a cricket pitch by ourselves.

We play cricket on this ground whenever we get time, and in the evening when everyone is at the home we gather our team and practice here every day. I am the captain of my team. During the holidays our team plays a cricket match with the neighboring village team it is quite fun and everyone enjoys it very much. Our team has won many of these matches and our team has earned many prizes for this.

In cricket, I like to bat and I am a good batsman, I have got the best batsmen prize for the many times in tournaments with are organized at district level every year. I have learned my batting skills from my uncle, he was a great batsman of his time.

Whenever there is a cricket match of our team India we all watch the telecast of that match with lots of interest. And when team India wins the match there is a lot of happiness among us and we celebrate that win as if we have won the match by ourselves.

The game is played on a field with a rectangular pitch on which batsmen play. Cricket has three kinds of formats- T20, test and ODI. Cricket is a global game loved by many.

Long Essay on Cricket in English 500 words

The long Cricket essay is suitable for students of class 7, 8, 9, 10 and competitive exam aspirants.

Cricket is a popular outdoor game played in many parts of the world on an international and national level. It is one of the prominent games played in India by children and adults alike.

The game consists of two teams with 11 players each. The game is played on a filed with a rectangular 22-yard long pitch at the centre. There are wickets at the two ends. The pitch is where the batsmen stand, and the bowler bowls the ball. A coin toss takes place before the match begins. The team captains do the coin toss. The captain that wins gets to choose what they want to do first. Each team has to bat and bowl. 2 batsmen are allowed on the field and try to score a good amount of runs. The bowling team tries to bowl them out to prevent this. A batsman can score a maximum of 6 runs in one ball. A bowler can bowl six balls in each over. Umpires make sure that players follow the rules of the game. There are two umpires on the field, one that stands on the bowler’s end and another that stands on the square leg. Nowadays there is a third umpire off the ground as well as a match referee.

The team that bats first sets a target score which the other side should chase down. If the team chases down the score, they win. If the scores are tied, a final over called the super over is played by the sides. The team that scores the highest runs or chases down the target score wins. In case of weather problems, then the match is either cancelled or the Duckworth- Lewis method is adopted. Here the score of the teams at last over that was played is compared. The team with the highest runs wins.

Cricket has three formats- T20, ODI and test. T20, also known as 20-20 is played for 20 overs by each team like IPL or Indian Premier League. ODI or One Day International is played for 50 over by each team and lasts the whole day. The test format is played for five days by the two teams with at least 90 overs per day.

The first games of cricket were played in the 16th century in England and are the national sport of England. Throughout the 19th century, it spread throughout the world. Cricket is extremely popular in India, England and Australia as well as in Sri Lanka, Pakistan, West Indies, Bangladesh, South Africa, etc. The governing body is the International Cricket Council or ICC that makes the rules.

Cricket attracts many people. Children play the game on the streets and in large open grounds. When I was a child I liked cricket too but was never good at it. So I changed my hobby to football . Football was new to me in class 3. I did not play well in the beginning. But I liked the game very much. So I started practicing it. As a result, I began to play it well.

In class 5 I became the captain of my class football team. At that time I was so much excited to become the captain. With time a learned a lot about football.

In Football total 22 players play. Division of players is in two teams. Each team has 11 players. These players have to play with the ball only with legs. They have to kick the ball in the other teams’ goal post. Football is not like cricket. Weather is not an issue in football. Due to which players can play it the whole year.

In addition to football is a game of stamina. The players have to run on the field for the whole game. Also for 90 minutes too. Since 90 minutes is a lot there is a division in time. There are two halves. The first is of 45 minutes. Likewise, the second half is of 45 minutes too.

Like all the other games there are some rules and regulations too. First of all, the ball should not touch the ball by hand. If the ball gets touched by hand the other team gets a free-kick. There is a small area near the goal post. ‘D’ is the name of that area. The boundary of the ‘D’ is at least 10 yards from the goal post. If the player touches the ball there the opposite team gets a penalty.

Cricket is the most popular game played in many countries like England, Australasia, West Indies, the Indian subcontinent, and Southern Africa. Small children in India are very fond of this game and generally used to play cricket in a small open place, most probable on the roads or parks. It is a very simple game if played and practiced daily. Cricket players need to practice this game daily to remove every small fault and get fluency.

Cricket is my favourite game of all other outdoor games in India. I used to play cricket in front of my house in the park with my school friends and neighbors. Cricket is a game that originated in British Empire (an English origin) however started playing in many countries. We need a bat and a ball to play this game. The cricket game came into vogue and gained popularity by the 18 th century. There are two teams in cricket with 11 players in each, and two umpires to notice the faults according to the law and judge all the fair and unfair while playing the cricket. Before starting the game, a coin is tossed by the team’s captain to decide which team starts batting first and the other one bowling.

Both of the teams get the chance to bat alternatively. However, the team that wins the toss does batting first, and the opposite team do bowling. Cricket has become one of the fascinating games in India from the observers’ point of view. When any national or international level cricket game is fixed to play, highly interested people become so excited a week before the start of the game. Many cricket lovers start booking tickets to see them live and on-site cricket games in the stadium instead of seeing them on TV or the news. Our country has become one of the most famous countries in cricket playing all over the world. Many times India has won the world cup and many test matches.

Cricket is an exciting outdoor game in India and is played in many countries worldwide. However, it is not so popular in the United States. Played is a fascinating game in many countries like India, England, and Australia. It is a beautiful game played using a bat and a ball in the open space on the big field. It is my favourite sport. I generally used to see only cricket on the TV whenever any national or international cricket competition occurred. In cricket, two teams have 11 players in each team. One team starts batting first, and another team does bowling according to the toss winning. The team who wins the toss does batting first; however, both teams can do batting alternatively.

There are many rules in cricket, and one cannot play cricket without properly knowing the laws and regulations. It is played well when play ground becomes dry. However, there exist some problems when the ground gets wet. One batsman gets a chance to do batting until he gets out of the game. Whenever a match starts, everyone’s enthusiasm runs high, and a high pitch sound of people gets spread all over the stadium, especially when the favorite batsman does through a chauka or chhakka ball. Sachin Tendulkar is my famous cricketer and would-be. He had made a new record in the cricket history of India. I forgot to eat anything for the whole day whenever he played his cricket match at the national or international level.

Cricket is a complex, however simple game if practiced regularly. I too am very fond of playing cricket and play daily in the evening in the playground near my house. My parents are very helpful and motivate me to play cricket very well.

Cricket is the most popular and favourite game of everyone. We like cricket very much and play it the daily evening on the small playground—people of almost all age groups like it as it is an exciting and suspicious game. There is no accurate prediction that a particular team will win. At the last moment, any of the teams may win, which increases the enthusiasm of everyone. People have their favorite team, which they want to win and see until the game is over and they get some result. There is a big crowd of cricket lovers in the stadium and TV rooms to see the cricket whenever any test match, national level, or international level competition occurs.

Young boys are highly affected by this game, and almost everyone wants to be a good cricketer. Cricket is not an Indian native game however played with lots of enthusiasm and joy. Cricket is played in England, India, Pakistan, Ireland, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Netherlands, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, etc. Cricket matches are generally played for five days with one Rest-Day. A cricket match is played with two teams of 11 players each, and the whole test match contains two innings of first innings and second innings. Win and loss in the cricket by any team depend on the highest total runs scored by the teams in their two innings. And the team getting maximum runs at the end of the game is declared the winner of that day’s match.

Cricket is not a simple game however can be learned and practiced regularly by following all the rules and regulations of cricket. There are two main players called one batsman and one bowler at a time, and both are changed timely whenever they become out or complete their all number of balls and overs.

Before starting the cricket match, a coin is tossed to decide which team will start the batting first. The team that wins the toss starts batting first, and the opponent team does bowling; however, both the teams get a chance to bat and bowl alternatively. Winning and defeating are two aspects of the cricket game which have made this game most interesting and suspicious. Whenever the batsman through the ball for chauka and chhakka, the whole cricket ground and stadium becomes full of the high tuned sound of the cricket lovers, especially when the favorite team does batting.

An Essay On My Favourite Game!

Games are an essential element in the healthy development of childhood and beyond. Before telling you about my favourite game, I want to let you know why it is important for children to play games rather than only study .

Playing outdoor games with their friends allows children to experiment through trial and error; build physical, cognitive and emotional strength; work out the best strategies; bring in proficiency in skills; nurture their imagination; and help them find solutions to problems. So, children must follow at least 1 game that is their favourite.

For me, it was cricket. I used to play cricket with my friends while I was in school. I played many matches representing my school as I was in my school team. We used to cope with winning and losing (sometimes) as both are a part of the game. But, when we used to win the tournaments, it was a great feeling. It was a proud moment for our coach, all teammates, and the entire school.

I found cricket the most exciting game among all other sports as the game is highly unpredictable. Moreover, the game has lots of drama; I did not find any other sport as dramatic as cricket. Many of my friends used to be spectators and watched me bowling, as I was a fast bowler.

Mostly, it was me and my other friend (who was the spinner) who took most of the wickets of the other team. The excitement when we say 'Howzat' (an abbreviated form of 'How's That') could be easily seen among the spectators as well as among the team players when we used to appeal for the batsman's dismissal. It is considered a way of asking the umpire whether a batsman is out or not.

So, I like cricket the most. However, for you, it may be something else. For instance, an outdoor game including badminton, tennis, football, or an indoor game like chess, table tennis, carom, ludo, squash, etc. could be the one you admire. Many other outdoor games entice children, including hide and seek, kick the can, four square, jump-rope & double dutch, etc.
