5 Tips to Make Great 3D Presentation for 2024

Want to create better 3D Microsoft PowerPoint presentations in 2024? Here are five tips that'll help take your presentations to the next level:

1. Pick a Perfect Template (Edit the Content)

3D Elements V2 a premium professionally designed PowerPoint template on Envato Elements

The easiest way of going about creating 3D presentations is to leave the work to the experts. Premium 3D PowerPoint templates give you a head start and save time.

If you want to convert data to visuals with 3D graphics, the most crucial part is to pick the right 3D graphic. It should match your data. So, it's worth spending a bit more time on this and browsing through as many pre-built 3D Microsoft PowerPoint templates as you can. Pick the best one for your requirements. Don't settle as it'll affect your final product.

2. Go for Contrast

Contrast is a critical design principle. Use contrast to not only draw your audience in, but also to guide their focus as you present. This is done by using contrast to create visual hierarchies. Contrast can be created using colors, textures, sizes, and shapes.

3. Mix It Up

Black White Project Vol 3 Powerpoint

Imagine an entire presentation of only bar charts on every slide. Your audience will get bored.

To fight boredom, present data in a variety of ways. Mix it up between the infographic elements you're using. For example, use pie charts, bar graphs, line graphs, funnels, and others.

A simple rule is: Don't use the same format more than twice in a presentation . Add other non-infographic visual elements like photos, images, or videos. These bring variety to 3D PowerPoint templates. Also, your audience won't feel like your presentation is data-heavy.

4. Use Animations Wisely

If you find yourself with complex infographics with many elements to it, animations help. Phase in individual components as you discuss them. Introduce each section of the infographic separately.

It's easier for your audience to follow 3D PowerPoint templates with animation. Learn how to add animation to your 3D PowerPoint template:

5. Leave Plenty of White Space

Eargo 2 - Infographics PowerPoint Template

As you use 3D infographics to convert data to more visually appealing graphics, give each item of data its own slide. Cramping two or more complex graphics on a slide makes it messy. Keep your 3D slides clean, minimalistic, and simple. That makes the slides with 3D infographics easier to read and more visually appealing.

3D Models in PowerPoint: How to Easily Add 3D Objects to Your Slides

3D models in PowerPoint on the screen

Did you know you can make stunning presentations by using 3D Models in PowerPoint ?

We will demonstrate how you can quickly transform your slides into immersive experiences by utilizing pre-made 3D objects directly within PowerPoint and by sourcing unique ones from the vast digital landscape.

But that’s not all! Brace yourself as we reveal the astonishing power of AI, which empowers you to craft your customized 3D objects. Get ready to be amazed!

Here are the three ways you can add 3D objects to your PowerPoint presentations!

1 Insert Stock 3D Models (PowerPoint)

The first approach involves utilizing the built-in stock 3D models, conveniently accessible through the Insert tab. By selecting from various categories or conducting a search, you can effortlessly insert your desired model into your slide, adding depth and visual appeal to your presentation.

How to Insert 3D Models in PowerPoint

First, click on the Insert tab at the top. Right in the center, there is a category called Illustrations. Just above, there is an option called 3D Models . Click on the dropdown.

How to Insert a 3D model in PowerPoint

There is a choice to insert a 3D model from your device but focus on the option that says Stock 3D Models for now. These are ready-made 3D models that come bundled with PowerPoint. Clicking on it takes you to the Stock 3D Models library , where you will find a plethora of exciting options to explore!

Notice that some categories feature a running person icon at the top. Selecting one of these categories unveils models with advanced animations attached to them. Keep that in mind if you want to test them out.

Take your time to explore a wide range of options and find a 3D model that captivates your attention. Once you have found the one, select it, and click the Insert button. Your chosen 3D model will seamlessly integrate into your slide, instantly elevating your presentation!

Editing 3D Objects

Let’s say you inserted a 3D model of a donut onto your PowerPoint slide. When you click on the donut and hover over its center, notice a change in the mouse icon. By pressing and moving the mouse, you can adjust the 3D orientation of the object . Once you release it, an icon appears that allows you to twist it around to any desired position.

At the top, a new tab called 3D Model emerges. On the left-hand side, there are various preset views for the 3D model. Expanding this category reveals numerous preset views. On the right-hand side, you have control over the layering of the object. Bring it forward or send it backward, and even adjust alignment.

Clicking on the Accessibility icon opens up a pane on the right-hand side, providing even more control over the appearance of the 3D model. Fine-tune rotation or add a shadow to achieve the desired look!

3D PowerPoint Animations

One of the fantastic features of inserting a 3D model into PowerPoint is the ability to apply animations to your object . Let’s head over to the top and click on the Animations tab to explore the various animations at your disposal. Within the dropdown menu, you will find a dedicated category for 3D animations .

For instance, you can select “Arrive” to witness the donut slowly rotating or arriving on the slide. Alternatively, try the “Turntable” animation for a gentle rotation or “Swing” for a back-and-forth motion. If you prefer something more dynamic, give “Jump and Turn” a try. You can even further customize the animation by clicking on Effect Options. Here, you can modify the animation to your liking, such as opting for a flip motion.

Another remarkable method of animating objects in PowerPoint is through transitions. By duplicating a slide, you create an opportunity to employ transitions between the two slides . Let’s say we have your donut on the first slide. Pressing Ctrl+D on the keyboard duplicates the slide, providing an identical copy. On the second slide, you can make adjustments to the donut, such as enlarging it or changing its orientation.

Now, click on the Transitions tab , and you will see a transition called “Morph.” Selecting this transition causes the donut to morph from its original position on the first slide to its modified position on the second slide.

By clicking on the Preview option, you can get a glimpse of how this animation appears. Morph empowers you to create visually stunning and complex animations effortlessly.

How to Make 3D Presentation

Now that you are well-versed in the fundamentals of 3D animations and transitions, let’s bring everything together and create a visually striking presentation. Within PowerPoint, imagine having a slide that showcases the range of products offered by the “Donut Company”. To add depth and appeal, you can insert various 3D shapes onto the slide which are readily available in PowerPoint’s stock library.

3D PowerPoint Presentation

For the next slide, perhaps you would like to provide a detailed overview of each product. Begin by inserting a rectangular shape and customizing it with a slanted orientation, a color sampled from the donut, and a dark gradient fill. Remove the shape outline for a cleaner look. With this slide prepared, duplicate it by pressing Ctrl+D , and modify the second duplicate accordingly. Resize and rotate the 3D objects, position them on the slide, and align them with the text and other visuals. Finally, add descriptive text.

To enhance the overall presentation, select the appropriate slide on the left-hand side, navigate to the Transitions tab, and apply the Morph transition . Witness the captivating animation as it seamlessly transforms and adjusts the 3D shapes. To experience the full impact, enter the full-screen mode by pressing Shift+F5.

2 Find More 3D objects on External Websites

Access sketchfab.com , a popular website that offers a wide range of 3D models. Browse through different categories or use the search function to find specific models. You will find a mix of free and paid models on the site. Once you find a model you like, download it in a compatible format like FBX , and insert it directly into PowerPoint.

Microsoft’s Paint 3D is an easy-to-use app that empowers you to create and modify your own 3D objects . Dive into the world of customization by designing unique models suited to your presentation needs. Paint 3D offers tutorials to guide you through the process of creating your 3D objects, ready to be inserted into PowerPoint.

3 Use OpenAI’s Shap-e: Generate 3D Objects From Text

OpenAI’s Shap-e is an impressive AI model that generates 3D objects based on text prompts. This impressive technology is available for free on GitHub, enabling users to effortlessly run it on their computers, no API key or internet connection needed. How to insert a 3D model in PowerPoint

How to insert a 3D model in PowerPoint | Quick Tips & Tutorial for your presentations

When we talk about 3D, we refer to three-dimensional objects, that is, objects that have three dimensions: length, width, and height. Humans see the world around us in 3D, as we can perceive the length, width, and height of all the objects around us.

Of course, 3D objects can also be found in graphic design. What's more, we can include 3D resources in our PowerPoint presentations to give them an original, but, above all, realistic touch.

So, in this post, we are going to tell you how to insert 3D resources in PowerPoint to make your presentations unique. Don't worry, you won't need the famous red and blue 3D glasses to read this information! Here we go!

powerpoint presentation of 3d internet

Although we would love to have the ability to edit and insert 3D resources in Google Slides, at the moment it is only possible in PowerPoint. If you want to share your presentation or have it in the cloud, you can first edit it in PowerPoint and when you are done, upload it to Google Drive.

Here are some techniques for editing and using 3D resources in PowerPoint. Take note because let's get started!

How to insert stock 3D models in PowerPoint

How to create 3d elements.

PowerPoint offers quite a large amount of stock 3D models as you can find all kinds of elements, from simple geometric shapes to elements of any category and theme such as animals, furniture, avatars, dinosaurs, food and drinks, flowers and plants, sports, and many more. You can also find models with animations.

The procedure for inserting resources is very simple:

  • Insert > 3D Models > Insert 3D model from... > Stock 3D models.
  • Finally, choose the model you want. As we have mentioned, there is a wide variety of models, some of them animated, you just have to select the one that best suits the content of your presentation.
  • Place the element wherever you want and with the size and orientation, you need.
  • You can also modify the format of the 3D model, for example, add a reflection effect: Right-click on the model > Format 3D model > Effects > Reflection.

Another way to include 3D elements is to create them from scratch, and then insert them into your presentation. For this, we will use the Paint 3D application.

  • Click on 3D Shapes. In this way, we will be able to insert, with the format we want, doodles, objects, or 3D models.
  • As an example, let's insert a 3D doodle. In the options menu on the right, we can select the shape of the doodle, the color, or the thickness.
  • Let's adapt the sheet to the size of the 3D element. To do this, click on crop and we adjust.
  • After we have finished editing the 3D element, let's save it on our computer so that we can export it to PowerPoint. Click in the upper left corner on Menu > Save As > 3D Model. Select the folder where we are going to save it and give it a file name.
  • Now we open PowerPoint to insert the 3D resource into the presentation. Click on Insert > 3D Models > Insert 3D Model From > This device > Choose the folder where the 3D model we created is and insert it.

And that's it for this post! You can insert and create 3D elements as we have explained, but if you need to, at Slidesgo we have a selection of templates that you can use in Google Slides and PowerPoint with 3D resources included. Either way, start seeing life in 3D!

Creating Engaging Presentations With 3D Models

Adding 3D models to our PowerPoint slides can make our presentations more interactive and visually appealing. Here’s how to do it effectively, focusing on inserting and customizing 3D models and utilizing advanced animation features.

Inserting and Customizing 3D Models in PowerPoint

First, we open our PowerPoint presentation and navigate to the slide where we want to add a 3D model. By heading to the Insert tab and selecting the 3D Models option, we can choose models either from our device or from the online stock 3D models available.

Once we insert the 3D model, customization is key to making it fit seamlessly into our presentation. We can resize the 3D model, rotate it to show different angles, and use the Pan & Zoom feature to focus on specific details. Adding Alt Text is crucial for accessibility, ensuring that all our audience members understand the 3D model’s relevance.

To summarize the customization process:

  • Insert : Insert 3D models from the device or online sources.
  • Resize & Rotate : Adjust the size and orientation.
  • Pan & Zoom : Focus on specific parts.
  • Alt Text : Make it accessible.

Utilizing Advanced Animation Features

Animating 3D models can bring our presentations to life. PowerPoint offers several animation features that can make 3D models dynamic and engaging. Using the Animations tab, we can apply various animation effects like Entrance, Exit, and Emphasis to our 3D models.

The Morph transition is particularly useful for creating smooth animations between slides. When we apply Morph, it seamlessly transitions our 3D model from one state to another, making the movement look natural. Adjusting the Timing of these animations ensures they sync perfectly with our narrative.

Here are the steps for advanced animation:

  • Animations Tab : Select the desired animation effects.
  • Morph Transition : Use Morph for smooth animation.
  • Timing : Set the timing to align with our presentation flow.

By following these steps, we can create dynamic and engaging presentations using 3D models in Microsoft PowerPoint.

Optimizing Visual Elements for Clarity

Making your 3D elements clear and visually appealing is a must. We need to focus on aligning and formatting the graphics and text for maximum impact.

Aligning and Formatting Graphics and Text

When placing 3D models, we should align them neatly with other content. Using PowerPoint’s alignment tools in the ribbon helps ensure everything lines up. This reduces visual clutter and keeps the focus on the main message.

Next, adjusting formatting is key. Resize 3D graphics to fit the slide without overpowering it. Utilize the Format Pane to fine-tune shadows, reflections, and effects. Consistent formatting makes the presentation cohesive and professional.

Finally, consider adding text descriptions or labels to explain complex models. Use clear fonts and contrast colors to enhance readability. This way, the audience can quickly understand the visual information presented.

Leveraging PowerPoint’s Latest Features

Let’s explore how PowerPoint’s recent advancements enhance our ability to create compelling presentations with 3D models. We’ll focus on the enhancements in PowerPoint versions 2016 and 2019 and how we can master the new 3D Model features across different platforms.

Exploring PowerPoint 2019 and 2016 Enhancements

PowerPoint 2016 and 2019 have introduced exciting features tailored for adding 3D models. The Insert tab now boasts a 3D Models option under the Illustrations section. We can upload models from a file or use Microsoft Office’s online library .

In PowerPoint 2019, the integration of richer animations and the Morph transition helps bring these models to life. The search function in the online library is also more intuitive, enabling us to find the exact model we need. I find the ability to animate 3D models without switching tools especially handy—saving us time and effort.

In contrast, PowerPoint 2016 provides foundational support for 3D models, though its animation effects are more basic. Nonetheless, leveraging these features enhances visual storytelling and engagement.

Mastering 3D Model Feature on Different Platforms

PowerPoint’s 3D Model feature is available on both Windows and macOS , allowing us to insert models seamlessly across devices. On Windows, accessing the feature involves navigating to the Insert tab, selecting 3D Models , and choosing between uploading from our device or using the online library .

For macOS users, the process is nearly identical, with slight UI differences. Embedding models into our slides helps create immersive scenes—for instance, when presenting a product design, we can rotate and zoom into the model directly within the slide.

Moreover, PowerPoint online supports basic 3D model functionalities, beneficial when working collaboratively or remotely. This cross-platform flexibility ensures we can make the most of these features, regardless of our operating system.

Key Features Explored:

  • 3D model insertion
  • Enhanced animations
  • Cross-platform support
  • Online library search

By staying updated with these tools, we can continue to elevate our presentations, making them more dynamic and engaging.

Final Thoughts on Effective Presentation Design

Creating an impactful presentation requires more than just adding 3D models. It’s about engaging your audience and making your content memorable.

Using 3D models can be incredibly engaging. Inserting animations with the animations tab like flip, spin, and turntable, enhances this effect. Zooming and panning around your 3D objects gives a more dynamic feel.

Make slides visually appealing by using the transitions tab effectively. Incorporate smooth transitions like morph to connect your slides seamlessly.

Here’s a pro-tip: Use blank slides for emphasis. They can be surprisingly effective in drawing attention back to you, the presenter. Think of them as a dramatic pause in a conversation.

Microsoft Office integrates well with online 3D models. You can insert models from various sources directly into PowerPoint. For more variety, consider .fbx files which add depth.

Another crucial aspect is engagement . Engaging doesn’t just mean flashy visuals. Sometimes, a simple, well-placed quote or an interactive element like a Q&A can do wonders.

To wrap it up, effective presentation design is about balance. Whether you’re showcasing in Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, using features like online 3D models , cube galleries , and catalogs thoughtfully will ensure your presentation stands out.

Let’s not forget the good old email follow-up . Sending the presentation via email with key highlights can help reinforce the message.

True magic happens when we blend these elements seamlessly, turning a simple deck into an unforgettable experience.

How Does the Internet Work? A Basic Introduction to the Worlds Biggest Computer Network

Aims of this Session • What is the Internet? • How does the Internet work? • How do I connect to the Internet? • What happens when I connect? • What do I need to do to safeguard myself and my computer? • Where can I get more help?

How did it all Start? • Grew out of an experiment begun in the 1960's by the U.S. Department of Defence • The Web physically consists of your personal computer, web browser software, a connection to an Internet service provider, computers called servers that host digital data and routers to direct the flow of information.

Some Internet Facts • In North America and Europe 1 in 6 people use the Internet • About 20 million households shop online • Over 100 million domains registered to date and rising • Its still only 1% of the worlds total population that own a computer!

How does it all work? Telephone number 0845 123456 Username and Password Your Computer Your Internet Service Provider (ISP)

How does it all work? An Internet Service Provider (ISP) Computers Computers

Part of the World Wide Web Your Computer The World Wide Web

Connecting Computers • Each computer on the Net is connected via a network of cables • Your computer connects to that network using an ISP • When you connect you are given an IP address (172.16.24.10)

Hyper Text (HTML) • The glue that holds the Web together is called hypertext and hyperlinks. This feature allows electronic files on the Web to be linked so that you can easily jump between them

Domain Names • Domain Names are the familiar, easy to remember names for computers on the Internet (such as jubileecentre.net).They correspond to a series of numbers (called Internet Protocol numbers or IP addresses)

Computer Names & IP Addresses • Computer names (domain names) are resolved to IP addresses • A huge database (the biggest in the world!) matches names to numbers Demonstration of Superscan & Neotrace (see http://www.neotrace.com )

Demonstration of Superscan & Neotrace (Visual Trace)

What is a Domain Name? http://www.ianmayer.com/christmas/index.html • http:// short for Hypertext Transfer Protocol • www. is a page on the World Wide Web • ianmayer.com is the domain name • christmas is the directory or folder • index.html is the name of the web page

Finding a Web Page?

What can you Access? • Pages of information • Music • Pictures • Video • Files • Programs • In fact anything that can be stored on a computer!

Caution • Because you are connected to a world wide network and you can access many resources - it make sense that others may also be able to access your information! • Consider protection against misuse • Consider creating policies

The Firewall • A firewall ISOLATES your computer from the Internet using a "wall of code" that inspects each individual "packet" of data as it arrives at either side of the firewall - inbound to or outbound from your computer - to determine whether it should be allowed to pass or be blocked.

What is a Firewall? A firewall ISOLATES your computer from the Internet It can be software or hardware

You need a Firewall if: • Your computer's files need to be accessed remotely across the Internet. • You are operating any sort of Internet server such as Personal Web Server. • You use any sort of Internet-based remote control or remote access program • You want to properly and safely monitor your Internet connection for intrusion attempts.

What is a Virus Scanner? A virus scanner protects your computer from malicious files It is software that checks each file for any hidden dangers!

Virus Protection • Install a good programme • Update it regularly • Always Scan attachments to emails • Don’t introduce any file to your system without checking it first • Keep backups of critical files

Policies and Procedures • Strategic planning of Information Technology (IT) must be aligned with the strategic corporate planning of the organisation • Health & Safety, Data Protection, Security, Support, Training, Purchasing, Backup, Internet & Email use etc. etc.

Further Training Available • Visit: www.idea.org.uk/go • Email:[email protected] • Tel: 0161 247 6172 • Advanced Internet, HTML Training and Real-time Communications • Free, self paced and on-line • You will need to register with MIID first

How to Insert a 3D Model into PowerPoint: A Step-by-Step Guide

Are you looking to take your PowerPoint presentations to the next level? While you may be familiar with the basics of PowerPoint, inserting 3D models can add a whole new dimension to your slides. In this guide, we'll tackle common issues like compatibility and formatting, and answer essential questions such as how to insert 3D models and what types are supported. We'll provide you with a detailed, step-by-step journey to master this advanced feature.

How to Insert a 3D Model in PowerPoint

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to insert a 3D model in PowerPoint:

Step 1. Open the PowerPoint presentation where you want to insert the 3D model.

Step 2. Click the Insert tab.

Step 3. In the 3D Models group, click 3D Models.

Step 4. In the From drop-down list, select one of the following options:

Stock 3D Models: This option allows you to insert a 3D model from Microsoft's online library.

This Device: This option allows you to insert a 3D model that is saved on your computer.

Online Sources: This option allows you to insert a 3D model from a third-party website.

Step 5. Select the 3D model that you want to insert.

Step 6. The 3D model will be inserted into your presentation. You can resize, rotate, and move the 3D model as needed.

Here are some of my comments about my experience with inserting 3D models in PowerPoint:

The most difficult step for me was finding the right 3D model. There are a lot of different 3D models available online, and it can be hard to find one that is the right size, shape, and style for your presentation.

Once I found the right 3D model, the insertion process was pretty straightforward. I just had to follow the steps outlined above.

I think 3D models can be a great way to add visual interest to your presentations. They can also be used to explain complex concepts in a more engaging way.

Customizing Your 3D Model Appearance

Here is a discussion on how to customize the appearance of a 3D model in PowerPoint:

Manipulating the inserted 3D model

Once you have inserted a 3D model into your presentation, you can use the 3D Model tab to manipulate its appearance. The following are some of the tools available in this tab:

Rotation:  Use the Rotate group to rotate the 3D model in any direction.

Translation:  Use the Translation group to move the 3D model around the slide.

Scaling:  Use the Scaling group to resize the 3D model.

Reset Position and Rotation:  Click this button to reset the 3D model to its original position and rotation.

Visual Effects:  Use the Visual Effects group to apply different visual effects to the 3D model, such as shadows, reflections, and transparency.

Styles:  Use the Styles group to apply different styles to the 3D model, such as a chrome finish or a wood grain texture.

Applying animation effects

You can also apply animation effects to 3D models in PowerPoint. To do this, use the Animations tab. The following are some of the animation effects available:

Morph:  This effect allows you to morph one 3D model into another.

Spin:  This effect allows you to spin the 3D model around its axis.

Zoom:  This effect allows you to zoom in or out on the 3D model.

Wiggle:  This effect allows you to make the 3D model wiggle or wobble.

Bounce:  This effect allows you to make the 3D model bounce up and down.

Adjusting lighting and material texture

You can also adjust the lighting and material texture of a 3D model in PowerPoint. To do this, use the 3D Model Format pane. The following are some of the settings available in this pane:

Lighting:  Use the Lighting group to adjust the ambient, diffuse, and specular lighting of the 3D model.

Material:  Use the Material group to adjust the color, transparency, and texture of the 3D model.

To animate a 3D model, you need to first select the 3D model. Then, you can apply an animation effect from the Animations tab. You can also specify the start and end points of the animation, as well as the speed of the animation.
