The BALEAP (British Association of Lecturers in English for Academic Purposes) MA Award 2023 has been award to Peter Bannister. The award aims to showcase and encourage master’s dissertations which make a significant contribution to the field of EAP. The dissertations can involve primary research or be literature-based pieces of work. Peter was given the award earlier this year for his dissertation "Exploring the critical listening assessment conundrum on pre-sessional EAP programmes in Higher Education". Peter is supervised by Dr Mark Carver.

Our second winner is Mellidy Campbell-Lochrie, winner of the British Council's Master's Dissertation Award 22-23, which promotes the achievements of students on UK Master's programmes for work with the best potential for impact on ELT. Mellidy's dissertation title is "A socio-political and cultural driven analysis of the representations of protected characteristics in UK-produced ELT textbooks, through the lens of the Equality Act (2010)". Mellidy is supervised by Dr Amritesh Singh.
