'Djibouti' movie review: Heart-warming story told in a new locale

Djibouti is a multi-ethnic East African nation and, with industries booming, the land is a melting pot of business attracting people who dream of making big money.

Louis (Amit Chackalakkal) and Aby (Jacob Gregory) are two jobless youngsters in a hilly town in Kerala aiming to fly abroad and build their fortunes. It was then Hana (Shagun Jaswal), a native of Djibouti, happens to visit Louis's village as part of a mission to meet her old friend Sherin (Athira Harikumar). For Louis and Aby it was a lucky ticket to fly abroad.

It was love-at-first-sight for Louis when he meets Hana. Louis and Aby eventually land in Africa and find jobs in a company with the help of Hanna. However, what's in store for them was not something they ever expected.

The movie 'Djibouti' written and directed by S J Sinu is a great story that unfolds quite interestingly. But the bland dialogues and a pedestrian screenplay leave it tasteless and inert. What saves the day is the superb camera work by T D Sreenivas who captures the beauty of the environs and the events both in Kerala and in Djibouti.

While Amit Chackalackal looks confused and clueless most of the time, Gregory is seen toiling hard to pull off comic elements and make emotions intense as well as realistic. Meanwhile, Shagun Jaswal does justice to the role she essays and holds sway over the situations she is in.

The role of Thomachan (Dileesh Pothan) is pivotal but he appears and vanishes intermittently leaving least of an impact. So is the character of Biju Sopanam.

The shift of the drama from the mist-clad high-ranges of Kerala to the rugged terrain and turquoise seas of Djibouti may provide some succour to the viewers' fatigued senses. The African part of the tale is action-packed with fights, car-chases and booming guns but is less convincing and superficial.

Anjali Nair, Pauly Valsan, Sunil Sukhada, Alancier Ley Lopez, Naseer Sankranthi also appear and stay for a short while and are less impressive.

Meanwhile, Deepak Dev's score is entrancing and the songs penned by Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri and Vinayak Sasikumar are soulful. The huge effort behind the tracking of the journey of Louis, his friend Aby and Hanna is quite evident but the mediocre treatment of the narrative leaves it dreary. The movie can be watched once for its story, scenic beauty and music.

ഹൃദയംകൊണ്ടു സംസാരിക്കുന്നവരുടെ നന്മകളുടെ ആകെ തുക. എല്ലാം നഷ്ടപ്പെടുമ്പോഴും ഒന്നും നഷ്ടമായിട്ടില്ലെന്ന് കരുത്തോടെ കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നവരുടെ സിനിമ. ആത്മബന്ധങ്ങളുടെ ആഴങ്ങളും സാഹസികതയുടെ ഉദ്വേഗനിമിഷങ്ങളും... ശ്വാസമടക്കി പിടിച്ചിരുന്ന് കാണാന്‍ ഏറെയുണ്ട് ജിബൂട്ടിയില്‍. പേരിലെ പുതുമ സിനിമയിലും കാത്തുസൂക്ഷിക്കുന്ന പുതിയ ദൃശ്യാനുഭവമായി മാറുകയാണ് ജിബൂട്ടി. 

നാട്ടിന്‍പുറത്തിന്റെ നന്മകളിലും പച്ചപ്പിലും തുടങ്ങുന്ന സിനിമ കിഴക്കന്‍ ആഫ്രിക്കയിലെ ജിബൂട്ടിയെന്ന രാജ്യത്തേക്ക് എത്തുന്നതോടെ പ്രേക്ഷകര്‍ക്ക് പുതിയ അനുഭവമായി മാറുകയാണ്. ആകെ മൊത്തം സംഭവബഹുലമായ പരമ്പരകളാണ് ജിബൂട്ടിയെ ഒട്ടും മുഷിപ്പില്ലാത്ത കാഴ്ചാനുഭവം പകരുന്ന സിനിമയാക്കി മാറ്റുന്നത്. രണ്ടാം പകുതിയില്‍ സിനിമ യാത്രാനുഭവം പകരുന്ന ആഖ്യാനശൈലിയിലാണ് ഒരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. ജിബൂട്ടിയെ പ്രേക്ഷകര്‍ക്ക് പ്രിയപ്പെട്ടതാക്കുന്നതും ത്രില്ലടിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ക്ലൈമാക്‌സിലേക്കുള്ള ഈ യാത്ര തന്നെയാണ്.

നാട്ടിന്‍പുറത്തെ ജീപ്പ് ഡ്രൈവറായ ലൂയിയും എബിയും. കേരളത്തിലെ ഏതൊരു ശരാശരി ചെറുപ്പക്കാരേപോലെയും പ്രവാസത്തിന്റെ മായികലോകമാണ് അവരുടേയും സ്വപ്നം. സഞ്ചാരിയായി ജിബൂട്ടിയില്‍ നിന്നെത്തുന്ന ഹന്നയെ കാണുന്നതോടെ ലൂയിയുടെ ജീവിതം മാറി മറിയുന്നു. ഹന്നയുടെ കേരളത്തിലേക്കുള്ള യാത്രയ്ക്ക് ഒരു ലക്ഷ്യമുണ്ട്. ആ ലക്ഷ്യത്തിലേക്കുള്ള യാത്രയില്‍ ലൂയിയും പങ്കു ചേരുന്നു. അതോടെ അവളുമായി ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന വൈകാരിക അടുപ്പം ലൂയിയേയും എബിയേയും ജിബൂട്ടിയിലേക്ക് എത്തിക്കുന്നു. തുടര്‍ന്നുണ്ടാകുന്ന സംഭവങ്ങളാണ് ജിബൂട്ടിയുടെ പ്രമേയം. 

പ്രണയവും അതേ തുടര്‍ന്നുണ്ടാകുന്ന സംഭവ വികാസങ്ങളും മലയാള സിനിമയ്ക്ക് പുതിയ വിഷയമല്ലെങ്കിലും ജിബൂട്ടിയെ വ്യത്യസ്തമാക്കുന്നത് ദൃശ്യഭാഷയും ത്രില്ലടിപ്പിക്കുന്ന കഥയിലെ വേഗതയുമാണ്. അടുത്തതെന്തെന്ന ആകാംക്ഷ ഓരോ സീനിലും പകരാന്‍ സംവിധായകനു കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ട്. ലൂയിയുടെ ജീവിത യാത്രയിലെ സാഹസികതയും നിഷ്‌കളങ്കമായ അവസ്ഥയും പ്രേക്ഷന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തെ പലപ്പോഴും ആര്‍ദ്രമാക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.

ആഫ്രിക്കയില്‍ ചിത്രീകരിക്കുന്ന ആദ്യ മലയാള സിനിമ എന്ന പരസ്യവാചകത്തോടെയാണ് ജിബൂട്ടി ശ്രദ്ധ നേടുന്നത്. ആഫ്രിക്കന്‍ കാഴ്ചകളെ ഹൃദ്യമായി പകര്‍ത്താന്‍ സിനിമയ്ക്കു കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ട്.  കഥാപരിസരത്തിലെ പുതുമയ്‌ക്കൊപ്പം കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളുടെ സംഘര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്കൂടി ചേരുന്നതോടെ ജിബൂട്ടി ഒട്ടുംതന്നെ മടുപ്പിക്കുന്നില്ല. ജിബൂട്ടിയിലെ ഗ്രാമ നഗരങ്ങളും കാഴ്ചകളും സംസ്‌കാരവുമൊക്കെ ഇതുവരെ കാണാത്ത ദൃശ്യാനുഭവം കൂടിയാണ് പ്രേക്ഷകനു പകരുന്നത്.

പക്വമായ അവതരണത്തിലൂടെ  എസ്. ജെ. സിനു എന്ന മികച്ച സംവിധായകനെക്കൂടി മലയാള സിനിമയ്ക്ക് സമ്മാനിക്കുകയാണ് ജിബൂട്ടി. സിനിമയെ ആസ്വാദ്യമാക്കുന്നതില്‍ ഓരോ സീനിലും സംവിധായകന്റെ സാന്നിധ്യവും ആവോളം അടുത്തറിയാം. അപരിചിതമായ ഒരു പ്രദേശത്തേക്കുള്ള കഥാപരിസരത്തിലെ മാറ്റം, യാത്രാനുഭവത്തിലുള്ള ആഖ്യാനം തുടങ്ങിയവ ബോറാകാതെ തോന്നുന്നത് സംവിധായക പ്രതിഭയുടെ മാറ്റുകൊണ്ടു മാത്രമാണ്.

ലൂയിയിലൂടെ നായകനിരയിലേക്കുള്ള അമിത് ചക്കാലക്കലിന്റെ മുന്നേറ്റം കൂടുതല്‍ ആര്‍ജവമുള്ളതായി മാറുന്നുണ്ട്. നാട്ടിന്‍പുറത്തിന്റെ നന്മയും ലൂയിയുടെ കാലക്രമത്തിലുള്ള പരിണാമത്തിന്റെ ഘട്ടങ്ങളും അമിത്ത് മികച്ചതാക്കി. എബിയായി അഭിനയിച്ച ഗ്രിഗറി, നായിക ഷഗുന്‍ ജസ്വാള്‍, ദിലീഷ് പോത്തന്‍ തുടങ്ങിയവരുടെ പ്രകടനം മികച്ചതെന്ന് പറയാതെ വയ്യ. ചെറു കഥാപാത്രമെങ്കിലും തികഞ്ഞ കയ്യടക്കത്തോടെ ചെയ്യാന്‍ തമിഴ് നടന്‍ കിഷോറിനുമായി.

ജിബൂട്ടിയുടെ വലിയ പ്രത്യേകതകളില്‍ ഒന്ന് ടി.ഡി. ശ്രീനിവാസിന്റെ ഛായാഗ്രഹണമാണ്. കഥാഗതിക്കൊപ്പം അപരിചിതമായ പ്രദേശത്തെ പ്രേക്ഷകരിലേക്ക് എത്തിക്കാനുള്ള ക്യാമറാമാന്റെ ശ്രമങ്ങള്‍ വിജയം കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. സംജിത്ത് മുഹമ്മദിന്റെ ചിത്രസംയോജനം സിനിമയെ പ്രേക്ഷകരിലേക്ക് കൂടുതല്‍ അടുപ്പിച്ചു. ദീപക് ദേവിന്റെ പശ്ചാത്തല സംഗീതമാണ് സിനിമയുടെ മറ്റൊരു സവിശേഷത. ജിബൂട്ടിയുടെ സംസ്‌കാരവും സംഗീതവുമൊക്കെ അടുത്തറിഞ്ഞ് പശ്ചാത്തലമായി ഉപയോഗിക്കാന്‍ ദീപക്‌ദേവിന് കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ട്. ചിത്രത്തിലെ ഗാനങ്ങളും ആസ്വാദ്യമാണ്.

Djibouti malayalam movie review & rating: ലൂയിയെന്ന നാട്ടിൻപുറത്തുകാരനെ മികച്ചതാക്കാൻ അമിത് ചക്കാലയ്ക്കലിന് സാധിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. അതിവൈകാരിക രംഗങ്ങളെല്ലാം കയ്യടക്കത്തോടെ അമിത് അവതരിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

Djibouti Malayalam Movie Review & Rating: അമിത് ചക്കാലയ്ക്കലിനെ നായകനാക്കി നവാഗതനായ എസ്.ജെ സിനു എഴുതി, സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത 'ജിബൂട്ടി' തിയേറ്ററിൽ എത്തിയിരിക്കുകയാണ്. പ്രണയത്തിനും ആക്ഷനും പ്രാധാന്യം നൽകി സർവൈവൽ ത്രില്ലർ ഴോണറിൽ ഒരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്ന ചിത്രമാണിത്.

വിളക്കുമല എന്ന കേരളത്തിലെ ഒരു മലയോര ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ നിന്നുമാണ് ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ കഥ ആരംഭിക്കുന്നത്. വിദേശത്ത് പോയി ജോലി ചെയ്ത് രക്ഷപ്പെടണം എന്ന ആഗ്രഹവുമായി നടക്കുകയാണ് ലൂയിയും (അമിത് ചക്കാലയ്ക്കൽ) എബിയും (ഗ്രിഗറി). ജീപ്പ് ഓടിക്കലാണ് ഇവരുടെ ഉപജീവനമാർഗം. അതിനിടയിലാണ് കിഴക്കൻ ആഫ്രിക്കയിലെ ജിബൂട്ടിയിൽ നിന്ന് അന (ഷഗുൺ ജസ്വാൾ) എന്ന യുവതി വിളക്കുമലയിൽ എത്തുന്നത്.

അങ്ങനെ അനയെ ജീപ്പിൽ നാട് കാണിക്കാൻ ലഭിക്കുന്ന അവസരം ലൂയിയും എബിയും ഏറ്റെടുക്കുന്നു. ജിബൂട്ടിയിലെ കമ്പനിയിൽ എച്ച് ആറായ അനയുടെ സഹായത്തിൽ അവിടെ ജോലി സംഘടിപ്പിക്കാം എന്ന ചിന്തയും ലൂയിക്ക് അനയോട് തോന്നുന്ന ഇഷ്ടവും തീരുമാനത്തിന് പിന്നിലുണ്ട്. എന്നാൽ അന വരുന്നത് നാട് കാണാൻ മാത്രമല്ല, തന്റെ പഴയ സുഹൃത്തിനെ കണ്ടെത്താനും കൂടിയാണ്. അങ്ങനെ അവർ സുഹൃത്തിനെ കണ്ടെത്തുകയും തുടർന്ന് ലൂയിയോട് അനയ്ക്കും പ്രണയം തോന്നുകയും ഇവരെ ജിബൂട്ടിയിലേക്ക് കൊണ്ടുപോവുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

തുടർന്ന് ജിബൂട്ടിയിൽ വെച്ച് അന ഗർഭിണിയാവുകയും അതേ തുടർന്ന് ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന പ്രശ്‌നങ്ങളും അതിനെയെല്ലാം അതിജീവിച്ചു നാട്ടിൽ എത്താനുള്ള ലൂയിയുടെയും എബിയുടെയും ശ്രമങ്ങളുമാണ് ചിത്രം പറയുന്നത്.

ലൂയിയെന്ന ഒരു സാധാരണ നാട്ടിൻപുറത്തുകാരനെ മികച്ചതാക്കാൻ അമിത് ചക്കാലയ്ക്കലിന് സാധിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. അതിവൈകാരിക രംഗങ്ങളെല്ലാം മനോഹരമായി തന്നെ അമിത് അവതരിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. എന്തിനും ഏതിനും ലൂയിക്കൊപ്പം നിൽക്കുന്ന ഗ്രിഗറിയുടെ എബിയും പ്രേക്ഷകരുടെ ശ്രദ്ധ കവരുന്നുണ്ട്. എന്നാൽ ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ ആദ്യ ഭാഗത്ത് ചില രംഗങ്ങളിൽ ആ കഥാപാത്രത്തിന്റെ പ്ളെയ്സിങ്ങും ഡയലോഗുകളുമെല്ലാം അൽപം അരോചകമായി തോന്നിയേക്കും.

നായിക കഥാപാത്രമായ അനയെ അവതരിപ്പിച്ച ഷിംല സ്വദേശിനിയായ ഷഗുൺ ജസ്വാളിനും പ്രേക്ഷകരുടെ ഇഷ്ടം കവരാൻ കഴിയുന്നുണ്ട്. അനയുടെ ലൂയിയുമായുള്ള കോമ്പിനേഷൻ രംഗങ്ങളെല്ലാം നല്ലതായിരുന്നു.

സിനിമയിൽ പ്രേക്ഷകരുടെ ശ്രദ്ധ നേടുന്ന മറ്റൊരു താരം ദിലീഷ് പോത്തനാണ്. ലൂയിയുടെയും അനയുടേയെല്ലാം കമ്പനി മുതലാളിയായെത്തുന്ന കഥാപാത്രത്തെ ദിലീഷ് മികച്ചതാക്കി. ബിജു സോപാനവും അഞ്ജലി നായരും ശ്രദ്ധേയ വേഷങ്ങളിൽ എത്തുന്നുണ്ട്. സുനില്‍ സുഖദ, ബേബി ജോർജ്, തമിഴ് നടൻ കിഷോർ, ഗീത, ആതിര, രോഹിത് മഗ്ഗു, അലന്‍സിയര്‍, ലാലി, പൗളി വത്സൻ എന്നിവരാണ് ചിത്രത്തിലെ മറ്റു അഭിനേതാക്കൾ.

വിളക്കുമല എന്ന മലയോര ഗ്രാമത്തിന്റെ ഭംഗിയും 'ജിബൂട്ടി' എന്ന ആഫ്രിക്കൻ രാജ്യത്തിലെ മനോഹരമായ ഭൂപ്രദേശങ്ങളും കാണിച്ചുകൊണ്ടാണ് സംവിധായകൻ കഥ മുന്നോട്ട് കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നത്. വിക്കി മാസ്റ്റര്‍, റണ്‍ രവി, മാഫിയ ശശി എന്നിവർ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്ന ആക്ഷൻ രംഗങ്ങൾ എടുത്ത് പറയേണ്ട ഒന്നാണ്. ഒട്ടും അമിതമാവാതെ വളരെ മനോഹരമായാണ് അവ ഒരിക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. എന്നാൽ അഫ്‌സല്‍ അബ്ദുള്‍ ലത്തീഫും എസ്. ജെ. സിനുവും ചേർന്ന് ഒരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്ന തിരക്കഥയിൽ ചില പാളിച്ചകൾ അനുഭവപ്പെടുന്നുണ്ട്. വിളക്കുമല എന്ന ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ നിന്നും ആരംഭിക്കുന്ന കഥ 'ജിബൂട്ടി' എന്ന ആഫ്രിക്കൻ രാജ്യത്തിലേക്ക് എത്തുമ്പോൾ എവിടെയോ കഥയുടെ ഒഴുക്ക് നഷ്ടമാവുന്നുണ്ട്. ആക്ഷൻ രംഗങ്ങൾ നിറഞ്ഞ രണ്ടാം പകുതിയിൽ ഇഴച്ചിൽ അനുഭവപ്പെടുന്നതും തിരക്കഥയിൽ ഉണ്ടായിട്ടുള്ള ഈ പോരായ്മ മൂലമാണ്.

വിളക്കുമലയെയും ജിബൂട്ടിയെയും മനോഹരമായി പകർത്തുന്നതിൽ ഛായാഗ്രഹകൻ ടി.ഡി. ശ്രീനിവാസ് വിജയിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. കാറിലുള്ള ചെയ്‌സിങ് രംഗങ്ങളും ഫൈറ്റ് സീനുകളും ഗംഭീരമായാണ് ചിത്രീകരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. കൈതപ്രം ദാമോദരന്‍ നമ്പൂതിരി, വിനായക് ശശികുമാര്‍ എന്നിവരുടെ വരികള്‍ക്ക് ദീപക് ദേവ് ഒരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്ന സംഗീതവും മികച്ചതാണ്. ബ്ലൂഹില്‍ നെയ്ല്‍ കമ്മ്യൂണിക്കേഷന്റെ ബാനറില്‍ ജിബൂട്ടിയിലെ മലയാളി വ്യവസായിയായ ജോബി. പി. സാം ആണ് ചിത്രം നിർമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്.

വലിയ പ്രതീക്ഷകൾ ഒന്നും ഇല്ലാതെ പോവുകയാണെങ്കിൽ ഈ പുതുവർഷത്തിൽ കണ്ട് ആസ്വദിക്കാവുന്ന പ്രണയവും ആക്ഷനും നിറഞ്ഞ ഒരു ത്രില്ലർ ചിത്രമാണ് ജിബൂട്ടി.

Djibouti movie review : 'ജിബൂട്ടി' മലയാളികള്‍ക്ക് ഇനി ഒരു ആഫ്രിക്കൻ രാജ്യം മാത്രമല്ല- റിവ്യൂ

അമിത് ചക്കാലക്കല്‍ നായകനായ ചിത്രം പറയുന്നത് 'ജിബൂട്ടി' എന്ന ആഫ്രിക്കൻ രാജ്യത്തെ ജീവിതവുമാണ്.  

പേരു തന്നെ പശ്ചാത്തലമാകുന്ന സിനിമയാണ് 'ജിബൂട്ടി' (Djibouti). ആഫ്രിക്കൻ രാജ്യമായ 'ജിബൂട്ടി'യിലെ ജീവിതമാണ് മലയാളത്തിന്റെ സ്‍ക്രീനിലേക്ക് എത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. മലയാളികള്‍ക്ക് അത്രകണ്ട് പരിചയമില്ലാത്ത ഒരു രാജ്യത്തെ കഥ പറയുന്നുവെന്നതു തന്നെയായിരുന്നു ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ കൗതുകവും.  റിലീസാകും മുമ്പ് പറഞ്ഞുകേട്ട ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ പ്രത്യേകതകള്‍ക്കപ്പുറം പ്രണയത്തിനും അതിജീവനത്തിനുമെല്ലാം പ്രധാന്യം നല്‍കിയിട്ടുള്ള മികച്ചൊരു ചലച്ചിത്രാനുഭവമായി മാറുന്നു 'ജിബൂട്ടി'

കേരളത്തിന്റെ മണ്ണില്‍ നിന്നുതന്നെയാണ് ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ കഥ തുടങ്ങുന്നത്. 'ജിബൂട്ടി'യില്‍ ഒപ്പം ജോലി ചെയ്‍തിരുന്ന കൂട്ടുകാരിയെ കാണാൻ അന്നാട്ടുകാരിയായ നായിക കേരളത്തിലെത്തുന്നു. കൂട്ടുകാരിയെ കാണാൻ എന്തുകൊണ്ട് കേരളത്തില്‍ എത്തുന്നുവെന്നത് ചെറിയൊരു സസ്‍പെൻസുമാണ്. 'ഹെന' എന്ന നായികയ്‍ക്ക് കേരളത്തില്‍ കൂട്ടാകുന്നത് നായകൻ 'ലൂയി'യും സുഹൃത്ത് 'എബി'യുമാണ്. വിദേശത്ത് ജോലി ചെയ്യാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന ഇവര്‍ ഹെനയുമായി സൗഹൃദത്തിലാകുന്നു. ഹെനയുടെ സഹായത്തോടെ ഇവര്‍ വിദേശത്തേയ്‍ക്ക് പറക്കുന്നു. 'ജിബൂട്ടി'യില്‍ ജോലി ചെയ്‍ത് ജീവിതം തുടങ്ങുന്ന 'ലൂയി'യും സുഹൃത്തും' ഹെന'യും അന്നാട്ടുകാരും അവിടത്തെ മലയാളികളും എല്ലാം ഭാഗമാകുന്ന സംഭവങ്ങളും വഴിത്തിരുവുകളുമാണ് കഥയുടെ ചുരുക്കം.

കഥയറിയാൻ വേണ്ടി കാണേണ്ട സിനിമയല്ല 'ജിബൂട്ടി'.  ഒരു യഥാര്‍ഥ സംഭവമാണ് ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ കഥ എന്നാണ് 'ജിബൂട്ടി'യുടെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തകര്‍ പറയുന്നത്. ' ജിബൂട്ടി' എന്ന വിദേശനാടും അവിടത്തെ ജീവിതസാഹചര്യങ്ങളുമെല്മലാം ചേര്‍ന്നുനില്‍ക്കുന്നതാണ് സിനിമയെന്നതാണ് കാഴ്‍ചാനുഭവം. 'ജിബൂട്ടി' എന്ന ദേശവും അവിടത്തെ ഭൂപ്രകൃതിയും ആവോളം ഉപയോഗപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട് ചിത്രം.  'ഉപ്പും മുളകും' എന്ന സീരിയലിലൂടെ ശ്രദ്ധേയനായ എസ് ജി സിനുവാണ് 'ജിബൂട്ടി'യുടെ സംവിധായകൻ.  ആദ്യ സംവിധാന സംരഭം മോശമാക്കിയില്ല എസ് ജി സിനു. 'ജിബൂട്ടി' എന്ന ആദ്യ ചിത്രത്തിനായി എസ് ജി സിനുവെടുത്ത പരിശ്രമങ്ങള്‍ തിയറ്ററില്‍ കാണാനുണ്ട്. നാട്ടുത്തനിമയുള്ള തുടക്കത്തില്‍ നിന്ന് അപരിചിതമായ ഒരു  പ്രദേശത്തേക്കുള്ള 'ജിബൂട്ടി'യുടെ മാറ്റമടക്കം കയ്യടക്കത്തോടെ എസ് ജി സിനുവിന് അവതരിപ്പിക്കാനായി.

'ലൂയി' എന്ന നായക കഥാപാത്രമായി അമിത് ചക്കാലക്കലാണ് അഭിനയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. 'വാരിക്കുഴിയിലെ കൊലപാതകം' എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിലൂടെ തുടക്കമിട്ട അമിത് ചക്കാലക്കല്‍ മലയാളത്തിന് പ്രതീക്ഷ വയ്‍ക്കാനാകുന്ന നടനാണ് എന്ന് അടിവരയിടുന്നുണ്ട് 'ജിബൂട്ടി'. നാട്ടിൻപുറത്തുകാരനായ ചെറുപ്പക്കാരനായ 'ലൂയി' എന്ന കഥാപാത്രം മറുനാട്ടിലെ ചില സാഹചര്യങ്ങളാല്‍ മാറ്റിമറിക്കപ്പെടുമ്പോള്‍ വേഷപകര്‍ച്ചയില്‍ അമിത്തിന്റെ രൂപ ഭാവമാറ്റങ്ങള്‍ അതിന് തെളിവാണ്. ഷഗുന്‍ ജസ്വാള്‍ ആണ് ചിത്രത്തിലെ നായികയായി എത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. പ്രേക്ഷകര്‍ക്ക് ഇഷ്‍ടം തോന്നുന്ന തരത്തിലാണ് ഷഗുന്‍ ജസ്വാളിനെ പ്രകടനം.  നായകൻ ലൂയിയുടെ സുഹൃത്തായ കഥാപാത്രമായി അഭിനയിച്ചത് ഗ്രിഗറിയാണ്. പതിവുപോലെ ചെറുചിരി സമ്മാനിക്കാൻ ചിത്രത്തില്‍ ഗ്രിഗറിക്കാകുന്നുണ്ട്. ദിലീഷ് പോത്തന്‍, ബിജു സോപാനം, സുനില്‍ സുഖദ തുടങ്ങിയവരും ജിബൂട്ടിയില്‍ നിര്‍ണായകമാണ്. ജിബൂട്ടിയിലെ നിര്‍ണായകമായ മറ്റൊരു കഥാപാത്രം തമിഴ് നടൻ കിഷോറിന്റേതാണ്.

അഫ്‍സൽ അബ്‍ദൾ ലത്തീഫുമായി ചേര്‍ന്ന് എസ്‌ ജെ സിനു തിരക്കഥയെഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു. തിരക്കഥാരചനയില്‍ അത്യാവശ്യം ഗവേഷണം ചിത്രത്തിനായി നടത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട് ഇരുവരും. 'ജിബൂട്ടി'ക്ക്  പ്രാധാന്യം നല്‍കിയാണ് ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ ഛായാഗ്രാഹണം സംജിത്‌ മുഹമ്മദ്‌ നിര്‍വഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. 'ജിബൂട്ടി'യിലെ പ്രദേശങ്ങള്‍ പ്രേക്ഷകരെ ഒന്ന് പരിചയപ്പെടുത്തുക എന്ന ദൌത്യം കൂടി നിര്‍വഹിക്കുന്നുണ്ട് സംജീത് മുഹമ്മദിന്റെ ക്യാമറ. ആഫ്രിക്ക എന്ന പൊതുബോധത്തില്‍ ഒറ്റ സംസ്‍കാരമല്ല 'ജിബൂട്ടി'യുടേത് എന്ന് വ്യക്തമാക്കുന്നുമുണ്ട് സംവിധായകൻ. 'ജിബൂട്ടി'യിലെ വൈവിധ്യമാര്‍ന്ന ജീവിതസാഹചര്യങ്ങള്‍ ചിത്രത്തില്‍ പരിചയപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു. സര്‍വൈവല്‍ ത്രില്ലര്‍ ആയി അവസാന ഘട്ടത്തില്‍ മാറുന്നു ജീബൂട്ടി. മനുഷ്യക്കടത്ത് ചെറിയ തരത്തില്‍ ചിത്രത്തില്‍ പരമാര്‍ശവിധേയമാകുന്നു. വില്ലൻ കഥാപാത്രത്തിന്റെ അവതരണം അത്ര കരുത്തുറ്റതാകുന്നില്ല എന്നത് ഒരു പോരായ്‍മായി മാറുന്നുണ്ട്.  'ജിബൂട്ടി'യിലെ മലയാളി വ്യവസായി ജോബി. പി സാം നിര്‍മിച്ച ചിത്രം അമിതപ്രതീക്ഷകളില്ലാതെ പോകുന്ന പ്രേക്ഷകരെ നിരാശരാക്കില്ലെന്ന് തീര്‍ച്ച.

പ്രണയക്കാഴ്ചകളൊരുക്കി 'ജിബൂട്ടി' വിളിക്കുന്നു | Djibouti Movie Review

ജിബൂട്ടി

വി ളക്കുമല എന്ന മലയോര ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ നിന്ന് കടല് കടക്കാനുള്ള ആഗ്രഹവുമായി ജീവിക്കുന്ന രണ്ടു യുവാക്കളിൽ നിന്ന് തുടങ്ങി, ആഫ്രിക്കയിലെ ജിബൂട്ടിയുടെ നിറക്കാഴ്ചകളും പ്രണയവും അതിജീവനവും പശ്ചാത്തലമാക്കി ത്രില്ലർ മോഡിൽ എസ് ജെ സിനു എഴുതി സംവിധാനം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്ന ചിത്രമാണ് ജിബൂട്ടി. പേരു പോലെത്തന്നെ ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ ആദ്യ കുറച്ചു ഭാഗമൊഴിച്ചാൽ ബാക്കിയൊക്കെയും ജിബൂട്ടിയാണ് പശ്ചാത്തലം.

ചിത്രീകരണ സമയത്ത് കോവിഡ് പ്രതിസന്ധിയെത്തുടർന്ന് താരങ്ങൾ ജിബൂട്ടിയിൽ കുടുങ്ങിയതും പിന്നീട് പ്രത്യേകമായി ചാർട്ട് ചെയ്ത വിമാനത്തിൽ നാട്ടിലെത്തിയതും വലിയ വാർത്തകളായിരുന്നു.

ജീപ്പ് ഓടിച്ച് ഉപജീവന മാർഗം നടത്തുകയാണ് ലൂയിയും (അമിത് ചാലക്കൽ) എബിയും (ഗ്രിഗറി). ഏതൊരു മലയാളിയേയും പോലെ കടല് കടന്ന് കൈനിറയെ പണം സമ്പാദിക്കുക എന്ന ആഗ്രഹവുമായി ജീവിക്കുന്നവർ. ജിബൂട്ടിയിൽ നിന്ന് നാട് കാണാൻ വേണ്ടി, അതിലുപരിയായി തന്റെ കൂടെ ജിബൂട്ടിയിൽ ജോലി ചെയ്തിരുന്ന കൂട്ടുകാരിയെ കാണാൻ വേണ്ടി വിളക്കുമലയിൽ എത്തുന്ന ഹന (ഷഗുൺ ജസ്വാൾ). ഹനയുടെ വരവിന്റെ പിന്നിലുള്ള സസ്പെൻസ് വേറെയുമുണ്ട്.

ഹനയെ നാട് കാണിക്കുന്ന ജോലി ലൂയിയും എബിയും ഏറ്റെടുക്കുകയും ഒടുവിൽ ഹന രണ്ടു പേരെയും അവരുടെ ആഗ്രഹപ്രകാരം ജിബൂട്ടിയിലേക്ക് കൊണ്ടു പോകുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. എന്നാൽ ജിബൂട്ടിയിലെത്തുന്ന ലൂയിയേയും എബിയേയും കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നത് അത്ര സുഖകരമായി കാര്യങ്ങളായിരുന്നില്ല. രണ്ടാം പകുതിയിൽ അതിജീവനത്തിന്റെ പാതയിൽ കൂടിയാണ് ചിത്രം മുന്നോട്ട് പോകുന്നത്.

വാരിക്കുഴിയിലെ കൊലപാതകത്തിലൂടെ മലയാളത്തിൽ ചുവടുറപ്പിച്ച അമിത് ചാമക്കാലയുടെ ലൂയി എന്ന കഥാപാത്രം മികച്ച് തന്നെ നിൽക്കുന്നു. എടുത്ത് പറയേണ്ടത് തോമാച്ചനായുള്ള ദിലീഷ് പോത്തന്റെ അഭിനയമാണ്. പതിവ് പോലെത്തന്നെ കിട്ടിയ റോൾ അതി ഗംഭീരമായിത്തന്നെ ദിലീഷ് പോത്തൻ സ്ക്രീനിലെത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. പ്രേക്ഷകരുടെ മനം കവരാൻ നായിക ഷഗുൺ ജസ്വാളിനും സാധിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

ബിജു സോപാനം, സുനിൽ സുഖദ, തമിഴ് നടൻ കിഷോർ എന്നിവർ തങ്ങളുടെ റോളുകൾ ഭംഗിയായിത്തന്നെ ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. ജിബൂട്ടിയെ പ്രേക്ഷകർക്ക് പരിചയപ്പെടുത്തുക എന്ന ദൗത്യം കൂടിയാണ് ഛായാഗ്രാഗകൻ സംജിത് മുഹമ്മദ് ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത്. ആഫ്രിക്കയിലെ പല സംസ്കാരങ്ങളേയും ചിത്രത്തിൽ കാണിച്ചു തരുന്നുണ്ട്. സ്റ്റൈലിഷ് വില്ലനായെത്തിയ റസാകും (രോഹിത് മഗ്ഗു) ചിത്രത്തിൽ എടുത്ത് പറയേണ്ട കഥാപാത്രം തന്നെയാണ്.

കൈതപ്രം ദാമോദരന്‍ നമ്പൂതിരി, വിനായക് ശശികുമാര്‍ എന്നിവരുടെ വരികള്‍ക്ക് ദീപക് ദേവ് ഒരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്ന സംഗീതവും മികച്ച് നിൽക്കുന്നു. ബ്ലൂഹിൽ നെയ്ൽ കമ്മ്യൂണിക്കേഷന്റെ ബാനറിൽ ജോബി പി സാം ആണ് ചിത്രം നിർമ്മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്.

മനുഷ്യക്കടത്തും ചെറിയ രീതിയിൽ ചർച്ച ചെയ്ത് പോകുന്ന ചിത്രം അമിത പ്രതീക്ഷകളില്ലാതെ പോവുകയാണെങ്കിൽ പുതുവർഷത്തിൽ കുടുംബവുമൊത്ത് ഒന്നിച്ചിരുന്ന് ആസ്വദിക്കാവുന്ന ത്രില്ലർ ചിത്രമാണ് ജിബൂട്ടി.

Djibouti release date: When and where to watch Amith Chakalakkal and SJ Sinu’s escape drama online

Amith Chakalakkal’s escape drama Djibouti, which released in theatres on December 31 last year, is finally heading for an OTT release. The movie, which was the first Malayalam film to be shot and screened in the African country, marked the debut feature film directorial of Uppum Mulakum series helmer SJ Sinu.

The film, which also has Dileesh Pothan, Jacob Gregory, Shagun Jaiswal, Kishore and Anjali Nair in pivotal roles, was released in six languages – Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and French.

The action-entertainer revolved around two youth, played by Amith and Gregory, who dream of working abroad to fulfil their dreams. After meeting an HR manager of a company in Djibouti who comes to visit Kerala, the youngsters express their wish and land a job in Africa. But their troubles only begin when they join the company. How the two battle the odds and finally escape the country forms the plot of the film.

Incidentally, the team of the movie were trapped in the country during 2020 when the worldwide lockdown was announced. Djibouti along with Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Aadujeevitham, which had its schedule in Jordan, were the only two Malayalam films that had shot a few portions during the lockdown in March 2020. After the film’s shoot concluded in April, the team of Djibouti had to wait till June for the producers to arrange for a special flight to bring them home to Kerala.

Djibouti is written by SJ Sinu and Afsal Abdul Latheef, both of whom have been frequent collaborators in Uppum Mulakum. The latter also made his directorial debut recently with Dinoy Paulose and Sharafudheen-starrer Pathrosinte Padappukal, which hit theatres on March 18.

Amith recently took to his social media page to reveal that the movie can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video from March 25.

1. Anjali Nair

Anjali Nair is an Indian film actress and model who mainly works in the Malayalam film industry. She is nominated for the Kerala State Film Award for Second Best Actress She started her career as a child artist in the film Manathe Vellitheru Then she headed towards modeling, and after that worked in the television industry as an anchor and then acted in more than 100 advertisements.

2. Shagun Jaswal

Shagun Jaswal is an Actress and a Model. She is 24 years old (as in 2019). She is born and brought up in Himachal Pradesh, and that is the reason why she has completed her schooling and graduation from Shimla. During her college days, she got the interest to get into modeling. She had the dream to become a doctor, but things turn out differently when she got entered into her college. In her college, she started doing modeling, and there she got the chance to participate in the Miss Shimla Competition and became the first runner up in the year 2013. After some time, she participated in Femina Indian Diva, and there she became the finalist of the show. Her height is 5 feet, and 5 inches, and her weight is 58 kgs.

3. Jacob Gregory

Jacob Gregory has mainly worked in Malayalam films. The 2013 Malayalam flick ABCD is his debut film. This film was directed by Martin Prakkat. The TV series (online sitcom) Akkarakazchagal showcased his acting prowess and he gained recognition for his performance. The name of his character in this series is Gregory or ‘Giri Giri.” This character was well crafted. This TV series was instrumental in Jacob Gregory travelling Canada, U.S. and Europe. He performed various shows based upon this series. In fact, Jacob was so engrossed with the character Girigiri that he used to imitate it in real life too. 

4. Deepak Dev

Deepak Devraj Komath is the original name of Deepak Dev, an Indian music director. He has composed songs predominantly in Malayalam cinema. His music is flawless in terms of sound quality. His music has a distinct quality in it and this has created a new trend in Mollywood. Deepak has several superhit songs to his credit.

5. Sunil Sukhada

Sunil Sukhada is a talented Malayalam actor. He is known for his versatility. He has brought variety to Malayalam cinema. With his colorful roles, he portrayed his artistic skills. He has conquered the industry with magnitudes of movies. He is a dedicated personality who has a passion for acting. He sincerely follows theater. Today, he has over hundreds of film to his credit. Born in Thrissur district to Sudhakara Panikkar and Saraswathiyamma, Sunil was the second child. Although he loved acting, he made into movies at a later stage.

6. Dileesh Pothan

Dileesh Pothan is a prominent Malayalam film actor-turned-director. He was born as Dileesh Philip on February 19, 1981, in Manjoor, District of Kottayam in Kerala, India. He studied at Emmanuel’s High School in Kothanalloor and later pursued a pre-degree at KE College in Mannanam. Later, he took Bachelor of Science at St. Philomena’s College in Mysore. He showed deep interest in cinema and drama, and so he decided to take a Master of Arts (MA) in Theatre Arts and attended the Sree Sankaracharya University of Kerala and a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Theatre Arts at the MG University in Kottayam. Initially, he has worked as an actor and associate director in several films including director Aashiq Babu’s Salt N’ Pepper (2011), 22 Female Kottayam (2012), Da Thadiya (2012), 5 Sundarikal (2013), Idukki Gold (2013), and Gangster (2014). Dileesh is also the associate director of Dileesh Nair’s Malayalam satirical comedy film,

7. Samjith Mohammed

Samjith Mohammed is a film editor who has worked on almost 60 films in his career in Hindi, Tamil, and majorly Malayalam. He was born in Tirur, Kerala. Mohammed started his career as a graphic artist on Kairali TV in Kerala. Later, he moved to Dubai to work with Asianet. He eventually turned to editing. Earlier, he was editing in TV serials and was seldom called for spot editing.

8. Biju Sopanam

Biju Sopanam is a Malayalam actor who caught his break in the Malayalam sitcom Uppum Mulakum for the lead role of Balachandran or Balu. The show is directed by R.Unnikrishnan and currently written by Suresh Babu, Sreerag R.Nambiar, and Afsal Karunagapally. The show premiered on 14th December 2015 and is still on air on Flowers TV. He started his career in 2005 starring in a minor role in the Anwar Rasheed directed Rajamanikyam. He also starred in the 2006 movie Bhargavacharitram Moonam Khandam directed by Jomon starring Mammootty and Padmapriya as well. In 2013, he worked in the Malayalam movie Black Butterfly directed by Rajaputra Ranjith and starring Malavika Nair, Mithun Murali, Samskruthy Shenoy, and Niranjan in the lead roles. His performance in the TV show Uppum Mulakum gave him recognition among his peers as well as created a strong fan base for him.

9. Alencier Ley Lopez

Alencier Ley Lopez is an Indian film actor and theatre artist, popular amongst the regional audience for his work in movies like Rosapoo (2018), Kala VIplavam Pranayam (2018), Oru Kuprasidha Payyan (2018), Parava (2017), Mayanadhi (2017), Vimanaam (2017), etc. Mostly known for his predominant involvement in Mollywood movies, Malayali TV shows, dramas, short films, and theatres, he was awarded the Best Character Award at the 48th Kerela State Film Awards for the film Thondimuthalum Drikasakhiyum (2017). Born on 11th December 1965, Alencier hails from a Latin Catholic family in Puthenthope, Thiruvananthapuram.

10. Amith Chakalakkal

Amith Chakalakkal is a film actor and producer in the Malayalam film industry. He was settled in Kochi, Kerala. He is recognized for his role in the movie Honey Bee in 2013. He was born on 13th August 1985.
